Petros

Petro Haile - Executive Director
Petros is the founder of African Global Roots. He has over 20 years of expereince promoting African-themed events in the Twin Cities. Petros has successfully served as an event promoter, coordinator and organizer. Petros planned, organized and/or presented events such as fashion shows, dance concerts, spoken word events, seminars, networking events and much more. Petros is from Eretrea.

IBe

IBé - Program Director
IBé is a father, Pan-Africanist, activist, writer spoken word poet. Over the years, beyond pages, he has graced small & big stages in small and big cities from Minnesota to New York. IBe is the manager of the Meet The AuthorĀ  series. He is also the webmaster. IBe is from Guinea, by way of Sierra leone. He has been in America for over 18 years, with about 15 of those in minnesota. As far as African art is concerned, IBe believes since it was first in the world, it's high time we reclaim our rightful place at the head of the pack.

Nneka

Nneka Onyilofor - Program Director
Nneka is a world traveler, writer, and graduate student at the University of Minnesota. She is also adjunct faculty at McNally Smith College.Nneka was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin of Nigerian ancestory.

OUR MISSION:

African Global Roots is designed to strengthen the African community by promoting and nurturing artistic expressions and professional development for the diverse African communities in Minnesota.

 

STRATEGIC GOALS:

African Global Roots will promote African art, and help the artists thrieve.

 

African Global Roots will function as an important resource and information center. AGR will achieve this goal through its Internet portal at www.AGRMN.com, annual publication, and various cultural events .

 

African Global Roots will bring together experts and authorities from various business, professional, art based establishments and educational institutions to discuss and engage the community about issues relevant to the African Community in Minnesota.

 

African Global Roots will seek, establish and harness strategic relationships with relevant partners in the community.

 

African Global Roots is well aware that the success of its project depends on the incorporation of the culture and tradition of all the participants...for this reason AGR will strongly encourage & promote cultural and traditional awareness through all sponsored events.
